For those of you who have never seen a 1953 Kaiser here she is front and back.

September 20, 2007
The body of the Kaiser is ready to go to the chemical strippers (Redy Strip in Phoenix) but the rest of the parts still had to be cleaned up, underseal scraped off and fit to the altered body and frame.

The trunk and doors fit ok but the radiator/fender "u" support that bolts to the front cross member had to be altered as the frame of the new front clip is deeper than original and new inner fender splash guard panels around the upper A arms were made. The passenger side front fender support bracket that bolts the top of the fender to the cowl was broken and a new bracket was fabricated and welded in place. The bottom fender bolts on the body were rusted in and broken off and had to be drilled out and tapped for new threads.

The driver side inner fender is so badly rotted out around the battery location and the bottom rear splash pan that it must be replaced. I also inspected all the rest of the parts from the two cars bumper parts and brackets, front chrome, parking and tail lights, door latches and hardware, etc. to determine what must be replaced. I made up a shopping list and contacted Rudy Phillips at Rudy's KF Parts in Ramona CA. he had most of what I need so I will go to California on a parts quest.

While in California I will stop by ABS Power Brakes in Orange to pick up a remote fill master cylinder taht will fit the 7" power brake booster and into the limited space under the floor. I had to return the Wilwood unit as it would not fit onto the power booster. Also, will drop the rear end off at Currie Industries for rebuild, powder coating and installation of the disc brake plates.

In looking at all the parts the two gas tanks I have are both dented on the bottom and badly coated inside. I called Rock Valley Antique Auto Parts the company that made the stainless steel tank for the 51 Ford, but they did not want to tackle the Kaiser tank due to its unusual kidney shape. I decided tohave the best of the two original tanks boiled out at the local radiator shop and purchase the intank fuel pump assembly from Rock valley for EFI (fuel injected engines) that comes on a 7" by 7" mountain plate then after boil out cut the opening int the top of the tank that will allow me to straighten and repair the bottom of the tank. Then the new fuel pump assembly will be installed and the tank powder coated.
