The 51 at Car Shows

I made a stained glass rendition of the 51 for our display at the car shows.


We took the 1951 Ford chopped 4 door to the GOod Guys Show in Pleasanton CA March 26 & 27 (indoor show) and received an "Award of Excellence." We arrived on Wednesday evening and I was able to get the car hauler/RV set up before the rain came that lasted until




10am on friday then got the car out of the trailer and into the building before it started raining again. It rained through saturday and on sunday it was partly sunny with scattered showers we got the car back into the trailerin the afternoon without any major clean up.



Attendance was low due to the weather but, we had some friends and family visit with us and to see the car after 6 years in the body shop.




We departed for Del Mar (near San Diego) early Monday morning as the RV lot was first come first serve only and we were afraid that we would not get a spot, but we did, then Tuesday we did some shopping, cleaning & laundry.


On thursday, I had to pull the trailer out, as it was backed into the small space, to get the car out then back the trailer into the space and reconnect it.

The car was lined up in the parking lot along with about 100 other cars then taken to the building 6 at a time.

We got to set up our display and cleaned the car the rest of Thursday, than Friday, Saturday, and Sunday the cars were on display with a large turn out.





Judging was done on Saturday, and we again received an "Award of Excellence" along with


"The Preacher's Pick" who is a member of the Good Guys Staff, and a very supportive person of our car craze. On Sunday, all the award winners were moved out of the building and the winners circle & displayed


all day until 2pm when Karen & I were lined up and went through the tunnels to the awards main stage were each car was run through individually for their award. A very nice show.



It was a long 14 days but we enjoyed the show, cars and people we met. On Monday morning, we got an early start for the 9 hour trip home.

Saturday June 18 we took the 51 to  the Yavapai Classic Cruisers car show at Mile High Middle School in Prescott AZ. We left the house at 5:30 AM as it's a 2 hour trip to Prescott and the show started at 8 AM, all went well except one of the trailer tires had a large blister on the side of it when we arrived at the show. I carry 2 spares in the trailer and changed the tire after I unloaded the car, checked in and had the car set up.  They had over 200 cars show up for the Fathers Day show and a good verity like this willies Gasser and chopped 34.  Chopped and channeled rat rod I think it started out as a Chevy.  1953 Kaiser like Karens Kaiser except this one is stock with a Chevy V8 in it.  Nice stock 46 Hudson coupe.  Model A very nicely done.  This Pierce Arrow Limo was a parts car when this owner bought it and made a hot rod with a Pontiac, automatic trans. and 9" rear end it also has the privacy glass behind the driver and a TV in the back
