Good Guys Scottsdale AZ

We took the Starliner to the Good guys Scottsdale Southwest Nationals again this year.
We left home on Thursday morning went about 40 miles and stopped just outside of Wikieup and found the cable that connects the trailer to the truck had fallen down and been dragging on the ground, which severed the wires. I did not have any splicing equipment with me so I patch it up by twisting the wires together and taping them up. This took about an hour as we discovered that it had blown out the fuse in the truck and of course I did not know where the fuse panels were, and we had no spare fuses. I made up a jumper to the blown fuse and we were finally back on the road.
Then about 30 miles out of Wickenberg we head a loud pop and the left rear tire on the the trailer came apart. We were at a place on the 2 lane highway that we could not pull over and had to drive on the flat about a 1/2 mile during that time the tread came off beating on the side of the trailer. The place we pulled off was not wide enough to safely change the tire so Karen stood behind the trailer waving the traffic off while I put the spare on. We arrived in Scottsdale 2 1/2 hours behind our scheduled time and were not able to get into the RV lot we wanted, ended up in the one that is a longer walk to the show. We dropped the trailer and went to Costco for our supplies and got back to set the trailer up, put things away, fix dinner and have a cocktail after a very long day.

Friday was much better day. I unloaded the Starliner, drove over to the registration tent to check in, then to the polo field where the car show is held. After cleaning the car I ask the people next to me to watch the car and walked back to the trailer, picked up the shredded tire and took it to a tire shop for replacement. They were very busy and 3 hours later I returned to the show to find that the BBQ vendor up the hill smoke and grease had splattered all over the car so I moved the car cleaned it up and had enough time to walk around a little bit.

Friday afternoon we drove the Starliner to Hot Rods By Dean for a kick off BBQ, visited the Kaiser and met a lot of nice people

Saturday Karen went in with me to set the car up and on the way in we got our picture taken by the event photographer... the picture came out great. We walked around for a couple of hours to try and see the vendors that were there and the 2000+ cars.

Sunday the weather went to hell and it was cold and windy and rain was threatening. I parked and cleaned the car, picked up our photograph and walked around the cars that had been selected for awards. At 2 pm the awards had just started when the rain hit and came down cats and dogs for an 1/2 hour. We all stood inside the big tent trying to see the awards that went on during the rain storm.

After the rain stopped I took the car back to the trailer, cleaned it up from the rain and mud, loaded in the trailer then put the new tire on. Karen fixed a good dinner and we got a good nights sleep after patching and covering the roof vent that blew off in the rainstorm.

Monday, we hooked up the trailer went to the dump station and had a nice trip home where nothing went wrong.

All in all even with the problems we had a good time.
