Starliner at the Kingman Air Show

We took the Starliner to the Kingman Air & Auto Show www.kingmanairshow.com on Saturday and Sunday October 6 & 7 and had a good time. There was a great airshow with aerobatics, war planes, and a jet powered sail plane.
The 1/8 mile drag races had some fast alcohol burning funny cars, roadsters and altered cars along with hot rods and there was about 200 cars in the show & shine.

Next Saturday Oct 13Th there is a run to Seligman Route 66, then October 19 - 21 the Starliner will be at Lake Havasu City for the Run to the Sun Car Show www.relicsandrods.com and finally a show in Fort Mohave Nov. 4Th.

The run to Los Angeles and Ramona CA. in September was successful. I picked up some hard to find Kaiser parts at Rudy's KF Parts, dropped off the rear end and picked up brake parts. On September 25th I delivered the Kaiser body, hood, fenders, trunk, doors and misc. body parts to
Redi Strip of Phoenix
for chemical dip to remove all rust, scale and paint and it should be ready for pick up the coming week. Phoenix is a 7 hour round trip from the house.

Then on Friday October 5Th, I made a 10 hour round trip to Los Angeles to pick up the rear end at
Currie Enterprises
it looks great and is completely rebuilt.

I picked the gas tank up from
Cave Radiators
in Kingman after boil out, it come out fairly clean but took a couple of hours with a scraper and wire brush to finish cleaning it after I cut the 7"x7" hole in the top for the new in tank fuel pump. I was also able to straighten all the dents in the bottom of the tank with a hammer and dolly. After welding the new pump flange in place it will go back to Cave for a special gas tank coating, that seals off any remaining rust and scale.

As soon as I get the Kaiser body home I will deliver the frame and all the brackets to the Powder Coater in Kingman. The cost is about the same if I was to paint with self etching epoxy prime and finish coat.

In November I have signed up for a hands on workshop in Pasadena CA to learn dent removal, metal shrinking and heat control of metal. Skills that will be used to straighten the Kaiser body and weld in the rocker panels, and other rusted area's that still remain. Here is the link to the website for the school.
