Ron with his 1st place award for best custom!!
The Fun Run was held May 1st and 2nd starting in Seligman as it does every year and then driving on old Route 66 through Peach Springs, Truxton, Valentine, Hackberry and onto Kingman on Saturday. This year we were ale to stop at Hackberry and browse the merchandise, look at the antiques, and listen to the rock and roll band. We arrived in Kingman around noon and parked in old town. After cleaning the Starliner
for the show and shine we walked through old town looking at all the shops. We always meet and talk with new people that like the starliner and its old school modifications.
On Sunday, we drove to Kingman, Cool Springs, Oatman (a ghost/tourist town) and finished at Golden Shores on the Colorado river where the show and shine awards are given out. This year the Starliner won the best custom award and we were thrilled.
While I won the award and was attending the ceremony someone stole the spinner off the right front wheel. The spinner is a "Cruiser wire by Kragar" with a gold dragon in the black center medallion that is very rare and over 30 years old. After spending the next day driving over the route looking for it my wife was able to find a replica on eBay that was in bad shape but I was able to clean it up and use it on the back right wheel.
If you are in or around the Kingman area first weekend in May 2011 be sure to attend the great event.
