GET THE 1941 RUNNING

Last post I started to install the permanent parts in the 41 Cadillac and have continued to get it running before I start on the body. I started to incorporate an 2007 Cadillac STS into the 41 but as the project progressed the 07 was to badly burned in the rear to be able to use all the parts. I found a 2005 STS salvage car that had been rear ended with rear sheet metal damage but all the rest of the car was in running order. Now I have put all the 2005 parts into the 41. I think that I will call it the 4105.

The car will not run without gas so the first thing was to install a fuel filler. I removed the fuel door from the 04 and the filler tube & hose from the 05. The filler hose & tube fit from the tank to just above the 41 frame where it was cut and attached to an aftermarket filler hose that extended it into the trunk. I had a piece of 1 1/8 OD pipe that extended it to a 90 degree bent hose and up to the stock filler / gas cap fitting.
The filler gas cap assembly was bolted to the 07 filler door and welded in place.
Here you can see the filler assembly completed. A new gas cap has been ordered and eventually a trunk panel will be made to cover the side of the trunk.
The battery would not fit in the engine compartment and had to be moved to the trunk. A base plate, hold down top bracket and 2 hold down rods were fabricated then bolted to  the trunk floor with spacers to make it level as possible.
The battery is mounted next to the fuel filler and will get covered with a removable panel.
The negative cable was connected to the frame up front and at the battery with the positive cable run through the interior to the engine where I made up a plate to connect it to the stock cable harness just below the main fuse box..
The main engine wiring harness had to be reconfigured, as the fuse panel was at the front of the engine now it is next to the firewall, and was unwrapped, wires separated & rerouted then rewrapped.
At the front of the engine the same rerouting was done along with the anti-lock brake unit wiring extended 12" to the units new location.
The radiator and condenser were installed 12" forward from stock then the hoses extended (using stock hoses) and the condenser lines re-bent to extend them to the new location. The stock coolant serge tank was remounted to clear the 41 finders and the hoses extended. Stock mass-air sensor reconnected without the air box & filter that I will deal with later.
The dash, console, shifter, seats, gauges and controls installed along with the heated, power up/down & telescoping steering wheel assembly.
All the power seats functions work and the stock seat belts are used. You can see the drivers door stock door panel in place, end plates will be made for the ends of the dash that had to be cut down.
The rear seat and belts fit right back into the car as planed.
There are many things left to do however at this point the car starts, runs and goes into gear. All the fluids have been put in and it runs cool, steering and brakes work. Next I will move it to the hoist and finish everything left to do under the car including the exhaust system.
