1941- 05 Cadillac Gets Permanent Parts

The last post the prep work on the frame and body was complete enough to start installing the permanent parts from the 05 donor car.
The lower part of the fire wall and inner fenders still needed to be painted and I taped of the engine compartment then painted it with POR 15 Gloss Black.

The anti-lock brake valve had been moved forward to clear the radiator and engine and the brake lines had to be extended to the new location by cutting the lines then make extension lines. The cut lines had to be flared in place that required some jury rigging as my double flare tool is large and designed to be used in a vice outside the car. The two rear lines were extended first.
The master cylinder to anti-lock valve also had to be extended, here you can see the gap between them after they were cut.
Another view of the double flare tool on the rear lines with one already finished.
The master cylinder lines are now connected using 2-90 degree bends & 4 couplings. All the tubing and fittings were found and purchasedt from Amazon.
Also found on Amazon was the 1" DD extension shaft I needed to tie the steering wheel shaft to the rack & pinion.
The 41 wiper parts were so badly rusted that I had to find something that would fit in the confined space between the A/C unit and bottom of the cowl. After doing a lot of research on Google most of the after market wiper assembles were $300.00 to $600.00 and not sure they would fit, then found a replacement assembly for a 78 - 86 Jeep with arms, linkage & motor for $110.00 on Amazon.
The Jeep wiper assembly fit tight to the under side of the cowl with the motor where the cowl vent use to be. I also bought a wiper switch from Amazon to wired in later.
With the wiper assembly in place the A/C - support unit could be fit.

The 05 unit was cleaned up and the wiring harness repaired where needed.

The 05 unit had to be cut down in width about 12" to fit into the 41. I had already cut and fit the 07 unit but it is a little different from the 05 and I had made the decision to use all the 05 parts and harness.
I used my overhead hoist to support the heavy unit while the final trimming was done then bolted in place.

The main wiring harnesses from the 05 were put in place and connected where ever possible
The harness in the body extends from the fire wall down both sides and into the trunk that also connects the rear brakes and gas tan.
The 05 seat belts are now in place with new mounting holes and plates added to the package shelf. Above photo shows the permeant front seat belt, all the 07 belts were smoke damaged.
The 05 dash board was cut down on each end then fit to the cowl area where part of the dash cut away to clear the wiper assembly.
Center console, controls and steering wheel assembly installed and connected to the harness (that all plugged together)
The 05 4.6 North Star 32 valve engine got an oil change and new spark plugs then set into the painted engine bay.
The Anti-Lock brake system still has to be bled, re-route the wiring for the engine as the fuse panel had to be moved from the front to the fire wall and lots of other issues to fix.
