SACRAMENTO AUTORAMA
We took Karens Kaiser to the Sacramento Autorama February 11 through 17 with the show open the 14,15 & 16. It's about a 650 mile trip one way so a few extra day for travel were added.
We were put in one of the smaller buildings (#2) that was quite a ways from the main show in buildings A & B so we did not think the Kaiser had a chance to win an award.
We went in on Friday at noon, rolled out the carpet & taped it down then Karen cleaned the car while I took care of the rest of the display set up, cleaned the tires, wheel wells & engine.
On the drive from the RV Park to the Cal Expo parking lot for check in (2 miles) the car lost it's power steering, when I opened the hood I found that the pulley on the alternator had come loose and fallen off that caused the serpentine belt to be off of the power steering pump and water pump. So I walked back the 2 miles on the medium on a very busy street looking in the street and gutters but could not find the pulley or nut & washer. On the return walk from the RV Park I found the Pulley in the middle of a 6 way intersection (on moor than very busy) and waited until I could dash out and pick it up with out getting hit. I got back to the car but could not put the pulley on with out the nut & washer so we drove it in with out power steering and it got hot with out the water pump. The next morning I went to Pep Boys on the scooter and got the nut & lock washer to fix the car. By the end of Friday we were poop.
We were moor than surprised at the awards to hear Karen's name called to win first place in Full Hardtop as the other car's in our class were over the top.
Allen Clark's ( who we made friends with) 1959 Chevy El Camino Full Custom Pickup that won first place.
